Marie “Pascale” Vythilingum

My name is Pascale, and I come from a little island called Mauritius, located in the Indian Ocean and where the Dodo bird used to exist. I came to Australia to pursue my professional passion for supporting and connecting with the wider community.

Having graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and being accredited through the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) my expertise is in providing holistic counselling services tailored to all individuals.

Having worked with people of various age groups, with a strong background in Case Management and counselling therapy, I utilise a Person-Led and Strengths-Based approach alongside Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed lens, Narrative Framework, and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy in my approaches, which allows me to effectively address a range of issues, including trauma, family violence, child safeguarding, mental health, societal and relationship difficulties – with this, supporting and recognising that each person is unique and possesses valuable strengths and resources that can be utilised in their journey towards well-being.

Area of expertise

At the beginning of my career, I had the honour of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds who had experienced high levels of trauma as they were coming to settle in Australia from war-torn countries. I gained a deep understanding of the impact trauma can have on individuals’ lives, and this is the reason why I am committed to providing a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their past experiences and work towards healing and finding their new sense of being and purpose of self.

Neurodiversity is a special interest of mine, as I recognise the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals with various neurological differences. I believe in promoting inclusivity and creating a safe and supportive environment for every individual to explore their strengths, challenges, and potential.

Besides working, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, drinking coffee, and, above all, being out and about when the summer weather is around.
